Pillow talk: Good-bye GREAT sex!

Sigh, have you ever ended a relationship and thought, "Oh crap! No more hot, sultry, curl your toes, AMAZING sex!"  Yeah you have, don't lie.  We all have at some point in our lives.  I was reading an article about this very same thing earlier today.  Ok, so it was a girlie magazine, I'll admit it.  What? It was storming and dreary -perfect weather for girlie mags and horrible Lifetime movies.  Anyway, so reading this article got me thinking (and we all know what happens when I start thinking).  It made me wonder how many of us have often thought along the same lines.  I mean, let's say the relationship suddenly went bad,  but the sex was good.  Great even.  Stay in the bad relationship for the great sex? My answer is hell no.  I would sacrifice the great sex for my peace of mind and well being.  Staying in relationship for the sake of great sex is as bad as staying in a relationship for the kids or something along the same lines.  But I must admit, I've thought about staying for the great sex.  I did actually.  A long, long, time ago.  I had been with my boyfriend for two years.  The first year and a half was incredible.  But the last six months of our relationship was horrible.  We fought like cats and dogs every day.  We were close to becoming enemies, it was that bad.  But both of us knew that our sex life was the only part of our relationship that seemed to work and was in sync.  We held on to that for as long as we could, for that reason alone.  In hindsight, looking back now, I should have ended things sooner rather than later.  But I didn't.  Meh, I was very young.   You live and learn, right?  I had not thought about that in years and then I read that article and it all comes back.  Which reminds me, I miss "curl your toes" sex.  :)

So what do you think?  Ever stayed solely for the nookie? Or would you?

That's what's on my mind tonight.  And now it's on yours, you're welcome.

The problem is that sex is addicting. So while it's a bad reason to stay in a relationship, I've prolonged relationships for "just one more romp" - knowing I might not get some again for a very, very long time. LOL.

Yvonne, to me sex has always had 3 vital enjoyable stages: the "warming things up" period, the torrid main event, and then sweet refreshening pillow talk.

Sex must encompass all three if it is to be GREAT sex. Any physical relationship isn't worth staying in for less than the total package (no pun intended).

As for me, an amorous 80+ year old: due to having my cancerous prostate gland removed years ago, since then I've been horny and suffering from ED at the same time. You have no idea how frustrating that can be.

Just a hug, kiss, snuggling, and hopefully a hand-job would be a welcomed relief. LOL!!!!

Is that too much information?

You know... While I haven't stayed in a relationship JUST because of sex, I have stayed in a relationship for a whole host of other reasons. It ended YEARS ago, and I just put it completely to rest a few weeks ago. These words are great advice. You can't stay in a terrible relationship for any reason, least of all sex. Even if it is curl your toes awesome!

Sometimes we think a relationship is great when the reality is only the sex is great. Sex really messes with your ability to see things clearly. It is one of the reasons that I am making it my motto in the future to keep sex out of it for as long as possible. I want to know what the relationship actually is. Sex only messes with my brain and lies to me.

The answer that you are looking for here is that I think most people have stuck with something longer than they think because of the sex. Sex clouds our judgment.

The other answer is, "Yes, we all want curl your toes sex." Who doesn't want that???? Is that too much information?

That probably is too much info Don, but it is insightful!

This has not happened to me yet. I got divorced after years of angst because of my son. There had been no sex for a loooong time. Now that I'm entering into the single life again, thank you for the warning! :)

Great responses, kids!

Robyn- ha! You and me both, sister.

Don- yeah too much info but agree on the stages.

HOH- Well see, at least you put it to rest. :)

Robin- I agree Robin. I've found that a relationship has stronger foundation if sex is not in the equation so early on. And no, no too much info! ha!

Felicia- ahahaha! I couldn't agree more.

Kristy- Thanks for visiting my blog, hope you come back. I'm sure you'll do just fine, girlie. ;)

I am not sure great sex would be worth the emotional abuse of a relationship. I've ended two relationships where it (the nookie) just wasn't worth it...

Toe curling sex??

Sign me up!!! :oD
