Happy Monday bloggies! How was everyone's weekend? Great? Good! One week from today and by God's grace, I will be celebrating my 45th birthday! Yes that's right, I'm that old! As is customary in my world, I start celebrating the last week of September and the entire month of October! Too much? Eh, what is too much celebration anyway? Plus, I'm still young (in my mind anyway) and still terribly cute! What more could I ask for? So to start off my birthday week, I thought I'd tell y'all about this one time at band camp... KIDDING! Seriously, I thought I'd share one of my favorite birthday memories. I guess I love the hype leading up to the big day and the celebrating that ensues because as a kid, my mom would always make a big production. Sure, it may have had something to do with the fact that it was also her birthday, ( I was her 21st birthday gift) but nevertheless, a BIG deal! I turned 9, and my dad used to work at a Golf/Resort in Conroe. There was a huge skating rink on the property. I begged my parents to let me have a skating party there. "We can't afford that place, let's just go to the neighborhood skating rink" was my mom's response. My dad on the other hand, set a plan in motion. Since he worked at the restaurant there, he "knew" people. So somehow, some way, my daddy made it so that not only did we get the entire rink to ourselves and our guests for a few hours, but there were clowns, and cake and ice cream, and balloons, lots of balloons on that day. I was a very happy little girl. But I think what makes it even more memorable today, is recalling the look of happiness in my mom and dad's eyes, for being able to make me so happy. It was awesome!
That was mine, what's a favorite of yours?
It's a new week! Make a FABULOUS one! :)

That is a very happy memory, Yvonne. Keep celebrating for at least 45 more years...and then some. =)
My most memorable birthday was a surprise party my mom and best friend threw for me, at TGIF (restaurant). My family wasn't even there. Mom knew I'd be most comfortable with friends only.

Wow, that was indeed one freakin awesome birthday, Yvonne! That brought a smile to my face -- see? :-)
And, hey, happy upcoming 45th! Those who are young at heart will live forever! You rock it, girl!
I love my birthday I look forward to it every year and more often then not I get let down why because my kids and hubby don't give it much thought they don't get me a cake and I love cake. I hope you have a fantasic day and it is every thing you want it to be.
Happy birthday week! Hope you do it up big!
Happy Birthday, Yvonne! I think that is the sweetest thing your dad did for you. How wonderful. My favorite birthday was when i turned 16. I could finally get a driver's license (even though I didn't pass the test until 17, but I didn't know that on my birthday!) At 16 I was allowed to date and stay out until midnight on weekends. Yeah!
Ack! I just realized I wasn't following! That has been rectified.
That's a wonderful memory, Yvonne.
And happy birthday! I'm having trouble believing you're 45. You're gorgeous!
That sounds like a great birthday, and even if money was a problem for your parents back then, it obviously made all the difference to you that they found a way to do what you wanted. Money comes and goes, but certain memories just last forever.
My favorite birthday? Gotta be my 11th. My mom and aunt took me to the Baseball Hall of Fame. It was supposed to be a two-day trip but I had begged for an extra day so we could see Howe Caverns afterward. She had probably spent way more than she wanted to already, but in the end I got my wish.
20 years later, that's still three of the best days of my life. Hope your birthday month is just as memorable! :)
Robyn- Thanks so much! I love surprises! :)
David- :) thanks David!
Jo-Anne- Thank you! I hope you get lots of cake on your birthday! I LOVE cake! :)
RG- Thanks girlie! I plan to!
Belle- Thanks Belle! I have a license and still don't know how to drive! hahaha
Jennifer- Thanks for the follow! And thanks for the ego boost, I needed it this morning! :)
Insomniac- Wow! The Hall of Fame? That's an awesome gift! What a great time you must have had! And you're right, memories last a lifetime, money doesn't. Thanks for the well wishes!
That is so fun! Seeing your child really happy definitely makes a parent happy. I'm glad you have such a great memory! I think one of my favorite birthday memories is when my parents surprised me with a Jets tape. Ha!
"I thought I'd tell y'all about this one time at band camp." LOL LOL LOL I had to clear tears from eyes before I could continue reading! lol
Aww, that is so sweet! And can I just tell you--celebrating your birthday for so long is AWESOME. My mom has stretched her birthday celebration to a month. She says, "It's my birthday month." LOL I'm all about taking special times and making them go as long as you want. :)
Kelly - I agree! A "Jets" tape? As in the musical group? hahahahaha I remember them!
FV-Ha! Glad I could make you laugh!
