My 5 year old nephew called me this evening.
Ethan: "Aunt Yvonne, can you pray for me?"
Me: "Yes baby! I will pray for you tonight!"
Ethan: "Ok, I don't wanna hurt no more."
That last sentence broke my heart. I was already in tears when he asked me to pray for him but when he told me he didn't want to hurt anymore, well that's when I totally lost it!
My nephew had to have surgery early this morning. Two weeks ago, he went in for a procedure but there were complications and so, he had to be operated again. I just want him to stop being in pain! I just want him to be a normal kid again. My poor sister and her husband are beside themselves. Ethan is a very special little boy. He's faced many health challenges since the day he was born and has endured countless operations, procedures and all kinds of medicines. He is my hero. He is a fighter and a champion. I love him so very much! All day I've been touched by the enormous outpouring of support and well wishes and prayers we've received from my friends and family and strangers even. My family and I are truly blessed!
The doctors were very optimistic that today's surgery corrected the problem and he will be fine. We are all praying for this to be so.
Really, this is all that's been on my mind today.

Oh my goodness! I can't imagine how it would be to know that your nephew is in such pain. Sure puts things into perspective. I hope your special little guy is feeling better soon. I'll pray for him too.
You can tell your brave little nephew that he will have an outpouring of prayers coming his way.
This just breaks my heart. But I know, KNOW, there are great and wonderful things in store for him. He will get through this and watch his life unfold like a dream, I know it. *Hugs to you all* Prayers are heading your way.

Nothing can break my heart faster than a child in pain. Your nephew is in my prayers. And his parents and family too. Hope all goes well with his procedure.

Awww! This was so touching. He sounds like such a sweet boy. I loved that he asked you to pray that he wouldn't hurt anymore. I will, too.
All- thank you very, very much! He is still in a lot of pain but doing better. Every day is another victory! I showed all of your comments to my sister and she was overwhelmed with emotions! She told me to thank all of you and to let you know she appreciates your thoughtfulness and prayers.
