it's monday, AGAIN???

A week ago I wrote a post about the new owner of the Houston Astros, Jim Crane, "suggesting" that he was considering changing the team's name.  The name that they had for over forty years.  Missed it? Go here:

Well, that made a lot of people in my fair city, really mad.  Myself included.  So much so, that blogs were written, letters were sent, phone calls were made.  I half expected a group to form Occupy Houston Astros -but alas, that did not transpire.  Well kids, I'm happy to report that this afternoon, that same owner,  issued a statement, to which he said:  "We received strong feedback and the consensus among season ticket holders and many fans, and we will not change the name Astros.  The Houston Astros are here to stay."  -and just like that, all is well with the world again.  Although, the more I think about it, the more I believe this was just a publicity stunt to boost ticket sales, attendance, status... I dunno.  I don't really care.  If it was a gimmick, it was a genius marketing move.  Well played sir, well played.

In other news, I seem to have lost my "inner work-out queen" ---Seriously.  I just can't make myself go to the gym lately.  And it's starting to show.  And I hate it.     But tomorrow is another day.  And so I will go then.  I've already had a stern talk with myself. Plus, I brought out the big guns and tried on a bikini.  If that's not enough to  make me run to the gym, I don't know what is!

Eh, but I'm a betting woman.  I got my money on me.

I'm glad they came to their senses and are keeping the name Astros. I doubt I could find a bikini large enough for me to scare myself with! Good for you for going back to the gym. Have a lovely sleep.

If this were a stunt for attendance, it might have payed off closer to opening day. Like Mets fans in my fair city, Astros fans seem to have short memories regarding their team and I doubt this will factor in ticket sales when the baseball season begins.

But yes, I'm also happy the name is staying. Just wouldn't seem right any other way. :)

And, hey -- good luck on the motivation! I know all too well how difficult it can be.

nothing is scarier than bathing suit shopping in January! The thought of it alone has me back hardcore in the gym and working to sweat as much as possible. *shivers*

Whoo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!! YES! Smart move, Mr. Big Shot, smart move. It's a beautiful thing when people come together and create change, or in this case prevent change. Brilliant!

Good Job! Though I wonder if he was pondering going back to Colt 45s...

Belle- You're silly!

David- Happy to report, I spent two hours at the gym today. Once there, found it hard to leave! I'm back!!! :)

RG- hA! I think I broke out in hives after the bikini debacle!

FV- I thought you would like this little bit of news.

CW- Yeah I know. A few of my friends thought he was "contemplating" that name as well. said...

That was a brilliant marketing move, though it was likely pure stupidity.

Girlfriend, you're awfully brave. I wouldn't dare even try on a bikini. You've bet your money on the right person.
