Today is also the day I start counting down to the Astros Opening Day. Those that have followed and read my blog throughout the years, know that I am a huge baseball fan. Particularly, a huge Astros fan. And Opening Day is a pretty big deal to me. Yeah I know they are in last place, yeah I am heckled by friend and foe alike because I am still a fan and yeah, I get discouraged after every loss, but you know what? I'm optomistic this upcoming season and I'm still cheering for them. Win or lose. -Mostly lose. ha! Anyway, for the past oh, eight years or so, my friends and I have made it a tradition to go to the home opener. We either take the day off or work half a day and enjoy the street festivities, have lunch somewhere nearby, and then finally go into the ballpark to watch the game. So there you go, the countdown begins NOW.
Talk to me bloggies, what's been going on in your corner of the world? Was February good to you? Do tell...
Here's to a happier, healthier and groovier month of March, for all of us.

So sorry you were hit by a thunderstorm of pain and loss, Yvonne. I love that you maintain such a cheery perspective, and that your sports teams always help keep you there.
Take care, and here's to a better month.

Given that February is the shortest month of the year, you sure did manage to pack a lot in there. And all of it was painful. Yikes.
Both of my grandmothers have passed, too. The first one died back in the 90s and the other one in 2008. Do I still miss them? Yes. In a painful sort of way? No. The further away I get from it, the more I appreciated the very long lives that they had. I was lucky. I got so much time with them. And so did you! Eventually, I do think you will get to a place of peace on that one.
The Big C. It is everywhere. Seems like every time I turn around I am tripping over someone with cancer. I am so sorry about your friend and your (former) boyfriend. Having lost people to cancer also, I sometimes think it's best when they go quickly like that considering how painful the cancer can be. I don't know if that was the case with your friend. I hope that everyone got to say their goodbyes. That is so important. I think that as long as we remember people, they still go on.
I was hoping things would work out with this fellow. It seemed promising there for a while. I didn't realize until this blog post that he was battling cancer. Did you write something about that and I miss it? If so, sorry. I hope the best for him.
Hang in there, Yvonne. Spring is coming!!!
I am so sorry that you experienced so much pain and hurt in that short period of time, dear.
It seems to come in herds... doesn't it?
*huggles*
Maybe March and Spring will be better for you.. I hope so.
Always...

Robyn- Thank you!
Robin- Yes I wrote about it back in November. I wanted it to work out also, but he's not the one for me. Anyway, thank you for your kind words.
Red- Thank you, I hope so too, friend, I hope so too. :)
Oh honey, I feel you. February has got to go and take the Northwest grey with it- please!
So sorry to hear of so much pain and sadness. I hope you will come through it feeling better soon.
Life is never fair, and yet we go on. Oh yes we do. And you will be on the flipside soon telling us of more wonderful adventures!
I fucking hate cancer! Grrrr! Sorry you had such a shitty Feb, Yvonne. Mine was pretty blah, too. And I'm actually kind of in a positive mood it's March now. For the first time in a long time I find myself looking forward to and welcoming Spring.
Keep your chin up, my friend. And hey, this could just be the 'Stros year! Coming from New York, this is the mindset of every Mets fan ever. Haha! But as a Yankees fan personally, I might have to adopt it too for the next several years it seems.
Oh well . . .
Very sorry for what you have seen. Can't be unseen, ya know?
All my best.
keep your chin up amiga. i can relate to the loss and feel your pain. it's hard to understand the reasons why things happen. but they do. we have choices to make. the choice we make will either be to our benefit or to our determent. so choose wisely. learn and take what you can from the situation with the 'manfriend'.
don't get sucked in to trying to fix him. people have a way of sucking the life out of us with *their* drama and *their* problems. learn to let them have it. when it starts draining your emotional bank and not making a deposit in yours, you need to run. run as fast as you can.
you got this girl. say goodbye and mean it. i love you, my friend! and i got your back!!
stay strong and write on!
February has long since been know as my season of discontent. Bad shit always happens in February, mostly my attitude sucks more during that month than any other. At least it's the shortest right? I'm sorry you have endured a sucky season of hurt during this month as well. It has to get better now right? March is awesome. Always awesome. Bring on the hope, laughs, and sunshine! QUICK!
