Back to the Basics

See me for who I am
Look at me, not through me
Love me, don't use me

I am the one who cries for you
worries for you

I am your friend,
lover
conscience

I am not an after-thought
your second choice
or consolation prize

I am the best thing that ever happened to you
but you don't see that

I would give you the stars and the moon
if you asked me to

Kiss me
caress me
devour me

Not because I fill a temporary need
but because permanent is all you think about
when you think of me

See me
only me
the one that loves you

Greetings and salutations bloggies!  So how is everyone, post holiday frenzy?  I hope Santa and Baby New Year were good to you.  Personally, I'm going to have to fire Santa.  The man in the red suit keeps forgetting my stuff and I was an exceptionally good girl last year.

So already 2014 is off to a great start.  Got a raise at work, am in the process finally putting together a book of all of my short short stories and  I've  decided that this year I will travel more.  I already started the ball rolling by purchasing my tickets to Spain and a cruise in the summer.  Mostly, I will make myself happy no matter what happens this year. Life is too short to be anything else.

I'd say that's a pretty good start don't you think?

In other news, it's freezing in Houston.  No really.  It is.  Tomorrow is supposed to be the coldest, it may only reach 19 degrees, if the skies clear up tonight.  Crazy isn't it?  But not to worry, our weather here in the city will be back it's normal bipolar self by Wednesday.

Enough about me? What's going on in your world?

It's Monday bloggies, you know the drill, make it count.

ps- oh yeah, that poem i wrote up there.  what'd you think?  it's not new, and definitely not my best.  i just tweaked it a bit.  i'll also be working a lot more on my poetry this year.  i want to publish a book of poems.  :)

Woohoo! Congratulations on your raise.

Your poem is very poignant. I think we all want someone to feel that way about us.

Keep having a great new year, Yvonne.

Your new year sounds like it's starting off on a very positive note. A raise (kudos) and booking a trip and cruise (woo hoo) sounds perfect and the writing goal a very positive idea. Good for you. I too will be making some positive changes this year but you'll have to wait to hear that one!! lol Hugs XX

I actually like the poem a lot! You're too good for whoever that is! If you are indeed writing about someone in (or out of) your life, and not being abstract. ;)

Your travel plans sound awesome, btw! I want to travel this year, too, but not so sure I can swing it yet. Would love to go to Italy again, or Scotland for the first time. Who knows?

Anyway, congrats on the raise. Woo-hoo! And stay toasty, my friend. I say, crack open the Malbec! :)

No better way to make that travel happen than by purchasing the tickets. Go you!!! I have never been to Spain, so I want to read all about it. Take lots of pics, too.

I think 2014 is going to be a real good year!!!

BB- I just read about your "positive changes" Good for you!

David- Aww, I'm glad you liked it. It's not my best at all, but it was what was spewing out of my brain so I went with it. And thanks, I agree, I'm too good for him.

You'll be happy to know that the Malbec was cracked open and thoroughly enjoyed. Too much actually. ha!

Jennifer- I'm always so flattered when you comment on my blog. You big time writer you! ;)
Girl! Don't you worry, I took care of the Malbec tenfold! :)

Robin- I'm beyond excited about Spain! And thanks, I hope with hope that 2014 is an amazing one for me!

I think the poem is great!
The weather here sucks. It is VERY bipolar.
I love that you are taking charge of your happiness and making changes towards that. You deserve it!
:)

Hello, friend! Happy 2014! Sorry Santa was a jerk, but that's exciting news about your short story collection. When you start thinking, "nah, I'm not gonna do this"don't forget that if you do you'll have accomplished something a lot of people want but never actually do. That alone will make it worth it. I'm looking forward to reading those, if you have one to direct me to now that'd be cool, too.Enjoy your weekend :)

Jesse- Hey friend! Happy New Year! Thanks for dropping by, my blog es tu blog. ha! Yeah, Santa had to be dealt with and it wasn't pretty.

I'm super excited about my short story collection. I'm in the process of choosing which ones I want to include and which ones ought never to be seen/read EVER. Long and tedious process for sure, but I'm making it happen. If for nothing else but to shut the people up that said I couldn't. And you're right, that alone is the sweetest revenge.

Hope this new year brings you and your family all great things and makes the not so great things bearable.

You come back now, you hear? Oh lord, I need to go to bed. :)

Ciao!
